  • How are tankless water heaters different than tank water heaters?

    • Endless supply of hot water - Never worry about running out of hot water again.  Back to back showers? Just threw in a load of laundry? No problem if you have a Rinnai Tankless Water Heater!
    • More space in your home - Replacing that large, clunky tank with a Rinnai Tankless Water Heater, which is roughly the size of a carry on suitcase will free up valuable storage space in your home. They also allow flexibility to install other non-traditional locations such as laundry rooms, closets, etc.
    • Save on energy and water costs - Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters use up to 40% less energy than a traditional tank. Additionally if you utilize one of our options for recirculation, you can have faster hot water at your faucet resulting in less wasted water.
    • Longer product life - Rinnai is known for quality.  Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters have a longer life span of up to twice as long as a traditional tank
  • Why do we choose Rinnai tankless water heaters over other brands?

We feel that Rinnai has the best product on the market.  Rinnai stands behind their product.  Rinnai is the original pioneer of the tankless water heater, and for over 100 years Rinnai has focused on innovation and quality. The extreme flow rate of hot water to multiple faucets, appliances and showers simultaneously, space savings and high energy efficiency all point to Rinnai as the world leader in gas tankless water heaters.

  • Is maintenance required for a tankless water heater?

Absolutely necessary.  In a tankless water heater, sediment in the water builds up in the heat exchanger.  Tankless water heaters generally last around 25 years.  If a unit is not maintained, the unit could struggle to maintain operation.  This could definitely lower the life expectancy of the unit.  Tankless water heaters are recommended to get flushed every 12-15 months for residential and every 6 months for commercial.  The is other minor maintenance on flame rods that require cleaning every 3 years.  At North Texas Custom Plumbing, we have a program to remind our customers when it is time to have the maintenance performed so that the homeowner/business owners are bothered remembering

  • How much does a tankless water heater cost?

Installing a tankless water heater may be more expensive than installing a traditional water heater tank because certain homes may require changes to some of the HVAC ducts or installing certain necessary plumbing pipes. The cost varies based on a number of factors, including where you live, how your home is constructed, which plumber you choose and which Rinnai tankless water heater you select.  We offer a free estimate to those interested.  Call 972-972-9293 to get you on schedule.

  • Why Do I Have to Disconnect My Hose for the Winter If the Spigot Says “Frost-Free?”

When you use your hose, water gets trapped in the line going to the spigot. This water remains once you’ve shut off the hose. When the temperature drops, this water freezes and causes the pipes to crack.

  • What is our hourly charge?

We do not have an hourly charge.  We offer free visual estimates.  We estimate our work before job is performed. A homeowner can decide to move forward or decline service when price is given.  You have nothing to lose.

  • It is taking too long to get hot water. What are my options to get hot water faster?

A recirculating pump can be installed to reduce the amount of time required to get hot water to a fixture.  Rinnai recently came out with a tankless water heater with a built in recirculating system.  If you would like more information research the RUR series from Rinnai.  A timer can be installed to recirculating pump to work at the times hot water is used the most.

  • How can I find the main water shut off valve to home?

After the water passes through the three city-installed valves, it comes to what is known as the main shutoff valve in your home. This is the valve that you need to be able to locate in an emergency. Find it before an emergency occurs so, when you’re in a pinch, you know where it is. This valve is usually in the basement or on an outside wall in a utility area of the house. The main shutoff valve allows a full flow of water through the pipe when it’s open. Turning off this valve (by turning it clockwise) cuts off the water supply to the entire house.
